Butte native Levi Leipheimer had a pretty good day during the 12th stage of the Tour de France.

The 131 mile ride from Cugnaux to the ski resort of Luz-Ardiden featured three tough climbs in the Pyrenees including two that are among the hardest in pro cycling. Samuel Sanchez won the stage and Leipheimer finished 14th today to climb from 32nd up to 17th place in the overall standings. Thomas Voeckler crashed Thursday but was able to keep the yellow jersey as the overall leader. Frank Schleck was in 2nd place 1:46 behind Voeckler. Leipheimer was 7:51 back of the leader and Bozeman native Tejay Van Garderen was in 55th place 35:46 back of Voeckler.
