Bighorns sweep Maulers to claim Cascade Cup
The Helena Bighorns are the America West Hockey League Champions.
The local six swept the Missoula Maulers in four straight games to win the Championship Series, after beating the Maulers on Friday night 3-2 they came to win game 4 on Saturday night 7-3. Team president Mike Butters said Head Coach Scott Cunningham deserved a lot of credit.
Butters stated, “I think it was just adaptation over the course of the season. We were the second youngest team in the league, I'll tell anybody, I think we have the best coach in Junior Hockey and he was able to get these guys hockey educated in time. Their dedication and commitment and focus on the task at hand was what was the key.”
Helena won their fifth straight Cascade Cup and seventh in the last eight years.
