A federal energy agency is considering several options for different transmissions to serve southern Idaho's energy load.

Bonneville Power Administration has ranked other options ahead of the Mountain States Transmission Intertie or MTSI, to serve the administration's southern Idaho loads.

In January of this year, Bonneville power administration and Northwestern Energy agreed to explore the potential for MTSI to accommodate needs to serve energy obligations in southeast Idaho.

Based on Bonneville Power Administration's notification, Northwestern Energy may write off costs totaling about $24,000,000 associated with the MTSI project.
