Woman dies after crashing stolen SUV in Whitefish
WHITEFISH, Mont. (AP) -- A Bozeman woman has died of injuries suffered when the stolen sport utility vehicle she was driving struck a tree in Whitefish. Whitefish Police Chief Bill Dial tells the Whitefish Pilot that the woman was in town for a wedding and apparently spent Friday evening drinking at a few bars. Dial says the woman was walking downtown later when she saw a BNSF Railway work crew get into a work shuttle that she thought was a taxi. The crew informed her it wasn't. Dial says the woman then took a BNSF-owned SUV early Saturday and sped off, eventually hitting a tree. Dial says she died Sunday morning as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The Flathead County sheriff's office told the Flathead Beacon on Tuesday the victim was 33-year-old Endsley Barrett.
