Second teenager dies following head-on crash
KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) -- Authorities say a second teenager has died following
a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 2 northeast of Kalispell.
The Missoulian reports that 17-year-old Kayli Mercedes Wagoner died Friday
afternoon following surgery at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
The Montana Highway Patrol says Wagoner was a passenger in a car driven by
18-year-old Mercy Peterson, who died at the scene of the crash reported at about
10:20 a.m. Friday.
Police say the vehicle driven by Peterson crossed the centerline into oncoming
traffic and smashed into a white minivan. Police say a 72-year-old man and
17-year-old boy in the van received non-life threatening injuries.
Police say it's not clear why the vehicle crossed the centerline. The crash
remains under investigation.
