Department of Revenue offers online tax filing
Online tax filing with the Montana Department of Revenue allows users to file 8 days before the IRS starts tax season.
The department's Citizen Services Bureau Chief, Cathy Fitzgerald, says it's designed to make filing taxes easier. Fitzgerald says anyone who needs help filing can bring a hard copy of their return to the Department of Revenue and a tax specialist will help enter the return online. She says internet filing speeds up the process and allows for returns to be directly deposited into an account.
Fitzgerald says, "Paper processing always takes longer so at the push of a button your return is into the Department of Revenue. It's already been checked for error as you're filling it out so it goes through smoothly."
People can start e-filing with the Department of Revenue on January 22nd. For more information, click here.
