Five p.m. today marked the deadline to file for candidacy in Montana's 2012 election season.

"In 2010 we broke the record of the first day of filings and then we broke the record of the last day of filings and so this year in 2012, we broke that again the first day of filing, so I'm looking forward to a really energetic last day of filing," says MT Secretary of State, Linda McCulloch.

Secretary of State, Linda McCulloch, says her office was busy as candidates came in, in person, to file. She says they also had a big push of people filing online. As of 5 p.m. Monday, the online candidate list published by the Secretary of State's Office included more than 300 legislative filings and more than 110 non-legislative filings.

McCulloch held a closing of the doors ceremony at 5 p.m. to signify the official end of filing. The online filing system was also cut off promptly at 5.
