Countdown to filling deadlines
The deadline to file for election in Montana is fast approaching. Potential candidates have only a few days left to file online or in person before Monday's hard 5 p.m. deadline.
"They can file over the weekend 24/7. And then on Monday they can file up until 5 p.m. and if they're in the system at 5 p.m. filing they'll be cut off at 5 p.m." says MT Secretary of State, Linda McCulloch.
Secretary of State, Linda McCulloch, says this year they saw record filing on opening day, breaking the previous record set in 2010. She says her office is anticipating an enthusiastic final day of filing, and that it could break the current final day of filing record, also set in 2010. McCulloch says at that time they saw about 100 more online filings than walk-ins, and while they won't have the final numbers until Monday, this year seems to be following that trend.
