New Nutrition Program Directory

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

The Office of Public Instruction has created a new directory of nutrition education programs in Montana with the goal of improving access to nutritious food for children.

The directory was requested by the children, families, and health and human services interim committee in 2011, and includes contact information for programs like the child and adult care food program, which offers nutrition education at day care facilities.

Jennifer Colegrove, clinical dietitian, says, “To get a good base when they're children is very important for good cell development as their brain cells are forming and all the other organs in their body so that they grow properly.”

According to a joint legislative resolution that led to the creation of the directory, 92,000 children in the state experience hunger.
