The first ever Mr. and Miss Gay Montana United States Pageant is happening Saturday night at the Red Lion Colonial Hotel.

Winners of the five categories will go on to compete for a national title. They're still accepting entrants, the only qualifications are you must be a resident of Montana and at least 21 years old. Organizers say it's more than just a pageant.

Pageant organizer Joe Norcross says, “It is basically all about awareness. It's community awareness, it's showing that you know what, we are all an active part of the community. We are your neighbors, we are your friends, we are your family and that's what it really is about.”

Doors open Saturday night at 5:00pm and the show starts at 6:00pm. Tickets are $40 at the door. Organizers say all are welcome.
