Haircuts for Earth Day
A local hair salon opened its doors on Earth Day to raise funds for a Montana Environmental Project.
Hair, Hair Salon and Spa was taking part in a global, 24-hour cut-a-thon today, in which Aveda stylists around the world are volunteering their time to offer haircuts in return for a donation in the name of Earth Day.
"For us, this is great. All of our staff is helping out and included today. They're donating their time as well, which is great for the community. And I can't imagine that there's anybody out there that doesn't want clean water."
Salon co-owner Joe Hrella says this event is part of a worldwide effort by the Aveda Network to raise $5 million for clean water. Hrella says the money they collect will go toward the Clark Fork Coalition in Missoula. Hair, Hair Salon and Spa customer Katie Butler says she's happy to raise awareness of the importance of Earth Day.
"I brought a co-worker from work down with me. I said we have to go do this. Clean water is so important. So I was very excited to come and help support the cause."
Julie Northey: "We're just excited to donate to Earth Day. I think we need to work on recycling this world for our children coming up."
Hrella says his staff will still take donations in the coming days.
