Troops return home after nearly 1 year in Afghanistan
After nearly a year of being stationed overseas, the Montana Army National Guard's 189th Support Aviation Brigade is finally back home.
Chief Warrant Officer and Chinook Pilot Wes Keaster, says he and his comrades left for Afghanistan on February 29th of last year.
Keaster says, "It's incredible. It's almost surreal. It's probably gonna take a while before it really soaks in. Being back and just taking it all in, it's a lot."
Friends and family gave a warm welcome to the troops as they stepped off the plane today. Keaster's wife Heidi says she was so thrilled to see her husband, she ran in her high heel shoes just to greet him.
Heidi Keaster, Wes' wife says, "My soul's home. My life can begin again. It was like my life was on hold.”
Keaster says it's just the 2nd time he's been able to see his 4 month old son, Tyler.
