Kiosk owners comment on codes and regulations

Today a community hearing held to discuss the current regulations for semi-permanent food service establishments was the site of contention.

Kiosk owners filled the room to speak out about zoning and building codes for their businesses.  City of Helena Community Director, Sharon Haugen, says the meeting was called because of a complaint  made in court against the city by kiosk owner Kevin Kyler.

Kyler says he wishes for bathroom regulations to be the same for all kiosks around the city.  While he proposed changes, several kiosk owners say they feel nothing needs to be changed.

Kiosk Owner, who likes current regulations, says, "So I would propose that they city not move forward on any of this and just keep it status quo as is."

If they city decides to make changes it will be several months before they are implemented.
