27-year-old man arrested after pursuit closes I-15
Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton says a 27-year-old Helena/Augusta man is in custody, facing several charges, after leading law enforcement on a pursuit from Helena to the Clancy area.
Dutton says Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s deputies stopped Broman on a $5,000 arrest warrant around 8 Monday evening. He allegedly attempted to drive off during the stop. Dutton says he purposely went at an officer standing in front of his 2001 Jeep, but the officer dove out of the way.
Several law enforcement agencies pursued Broman from the initial stop in Helena, onto I-15 toward Clancy. Dutton says Broman called 911 offering to surrender. Negotiations lasted for about two hours before law enforcement took Broman into custody.
Dutton says Broman will undergo a mental health evaluation at the jail. No one was injured during the incident.
Broman faces charges of felony criminal endangerment, eluding police and escape.
The judge set the total bond for the warrant, violating terms from probation and parole and the incident Monday night, at $130,000.
