After reaching a goal of 950 donated turkeys, the Helena Food Share held its Thanksgiving distribution today.

Nearly 1,400 families stopped by to receive the holiday meals.  This year, instead of picking up a Thanksgiving package with standard sides, families had the opportunity to choose their dishes.  Helena Food Share made some changes to the distribution to accommodate the new service, but organizers say the day ran smoothly.

Shani Rich of Helena Food Share, says, “So far everyone seems to be really happy with it.  We have a lot of really great volunteers helping out as well which makes a huge difference.

The next distribution will be their holiday meats distribution on December 21st.
