L&C Library and Downtown Helena taking turkey donations
Some local organizations are teaming up to provide Thanksgiving meals for community members in need.
This Friday, for one day only, the Lewis and Clark County Library and Downtown Helena will be accepting frozen turkeys, on behalf of Helena Food Share, for the 2nd Annual Helena Turkey Challenge.
Helena Food Share is trying to reach a goal of 950 birds donated. People can give 10 to 12 pound frozen turkeys which will be distributed to Helena families by Monday, November 19th.
Shani Rich, Helena Food Share Communications Director, says, "The Thanksgiving distribution in November is huge for us. That's 1,400 families that would go without a Thanksgiving dinner without the support of the Helena community."
People wishing to donate can drop off turkeys in the library lobby between 9 am and 5 pm. If you'd rather make a monetary donation, Helena Food Share is also accepting $15.00 donations. To find out how to follow the turkey countdown until Helena Food Share reaches its 950 turkey goal, click here.
