Fatal hit and run update

Charges have been filed in connection with a hit and run accident early Easter Sunday morning that killed one man and seriously injured another.

Charging documents say an 18-year-old Helena female is charged with criminal endangerment in the crash that killed 50-year-old Mark Alan Strikas. The female charged was 17 at the time of the accident.

Charging documents filed say the teenaged driver admitted to Helena Police Officers she was smoking a small amount of marijuana before the crash occurred. The document also says Strikas had a blood alcohol level of .21 percent upon autopsy.

The document also states witnesses reported that the driver had told a friend she initially believed she hit a deer, but upon finding keys in the grill of her car she had come to believe she hit a person.
