63rd annual Easter Tableaux
It's been a tradition in Helena for more than 60 years, and this Sunday that tradition will continue.
The 63rd annual presentation of the Easter Tableaux will take place at the Masonic Temple on April 1 courtesy of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. And for the first time, due to high demand, there will be two performances.
Organizers say it's been around so long they can't even remember how it really got started. The Tableaux depicts the last days of Jesus Christ through a series of historic scenes and actors.
Les Saisbury, Easter Tableaux Participant, said, "I think this is something that is kind of a rare treat that you're not probably going to experience anywhere else in this part of the country."
Easter Tableaux Program Director, Tom Bearden said, "Usually guys that get involved with this find out that it's so much fun and enjoyable, they stick. And you can't get into this until there's someone who leaves by some means."
The Easter Tableaux will take place on Sunday, April 1 at the Masonic Temple, which is located at 15 North Jackson Street in Helena.
There will be two performances beginning at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., and the event is free and open to the public.
