Tonight kicks off the beginning of the 8th annual Great Northern Cheer and Dance Championships at Carroll College.
It is the largest cheer/dance competition in the state and close to 400 athletes are expected to attend. The Helena Athletic Club, along with their Mustang cheerleading team, is hosting the event.
"Teams really have a more carefree attitude as far as putting it all out there. It's the last competition of Montana's season four dance and cheer teams, so everybody really wants to bring their best game and show off," Owner, Helena Athletic Club, Laura Snellman.
Tonight's event will feature the dance competition and high school cheerleading teams. Tomorrow the all-star cheerleading teams from across the state will perform.
