Applications sought for new water judge position

HELENA, Mont. (AP) -- The state's Judicial Nomination Commission is taking
applications for a newly created judgeship overseeing water disputes.
The new judge will preside at the Montana Water Court in Bozeman in a four
year term. The position pays $113,928 a year.
Applications are being accepted until March 9 from lawyers in good standing.
The seven-member commission will review the applications and announce the
names of the candidates. A monthlong public comment period will follow
ending with the commission forwarding the names of up to five nominees to
Chief Justice Mike McGrath.
McGrath will make the appointment.
