Court records: Toddler thrown against wall
GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) -- Cascade County prosecutors allege a 20-year-old
Great Falls man spanked a 2-year-old boy, covered the boy's mouth with his hand
and eventually threw the boy against the wall when he would not stop crying.
The Great Falls Tribune reports Riley James Charlo-Whitworth faces charges of
felony assault, assault on a minor, criminal endangerment and tampering
with evidence. His bail was set at $200,000.
Staff at the Benefis called police at 3 a.m. Saturday to report a child brought
into the emergency room with multiple bruises and severe abdominal trauma.
The boy was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He is in intensive
care, but is expected to fully recover.
Court records say Charlo-Whitworth initially said the child fell down some stairs,
but later acknowledged causing the injuries.
