Prescribed burns for Helena and Townsend ranger districts

You may see smoke in the area over the next few days, as the Helena and Townsend ranger districts conduct several prescribed burns.

Prescribed Burns: Helena District

  • Jimtown Road
  • Moose Creek Campground
  • Ten Mile Picnic Area
  • Prickly Pear Shooting Range
  • Kading Campground
  • Brooklyn Bridge

The burns near Helena will be across the district near Jimtown Road, Moose Creek Campground, the Ten Mile Picnic Area, Prickly Pear Shooting Range and Kading Campground.

The Brooklyn Bridge area near Clancy is also a prescribed burn area.

Prescribed Burns: Townsend District

  • Big Belt Mountains
  • Deep Creek Area
  • Grassy Mountains Area

In the Townsend district, the prescribed burn will be in the Big Belt Mountains, the North Fork of the Deep Creek area and the Grassy Mountain area.

The burns are all part of an effort to reduce hazardous fuels and fire risks.
