Lightning started a small grass fire near the west shore of Canyon Ferry Lake Wednesday morning.

The fire is located one mile north of the Lewis and Clark and Broadwater County border in Lewis and Clark County and two miles west of Canyon Ferry. It burned about three acres of grassland on top of a ridge.

The DNRC responded with an engine and ground crew and a Forest Service helicopter offered aerial support. Crews have been 'mopping up' the remaining hotspots with the help of a DNRC helicopter.
