A long feud between neighbors turned deadly today, after a shooting in Augusta.

Lewis and Clark County sheriff's deputies responded to a call reporting a 53 year-old man was shot down.  Sheriff Leo Dutton says the shooter stayed at the scene of the incident and admitted to deputies that he shot his neighbor.  Dutton says, the self-admitted shooter and victim were neighbors involved in a year-long property easement battle.  He says deputies had been called to both parties' homes several times because of the issue, but this is the first time it turned violent.

Sheriff Dutton says,"There was verbal. Several verbal altercations and criminal mischief had been done to locks and gates.

He says deputies detained the shooter this afternoon, but released him this evening.  Lewis and Clark County Coroner Mickey Nelson, pronounced the victim dead at the scene.  Nelson says he will not release the names of any of the parties involved until the victim's family is notified
