Common Core State Standards, Seg. 1

Few topics arouse more passion than how well our schools are educating the citizens of tomorrow.

Federal initiatives such as "No Child Left Behind" and "Race to the Top" have attempted to raise the standards

of education across the country... but with mixed or disappointing results.

Today, we're going to discuss a new initiative called "Common Core State Standards in English language arts and mathematics".

Denise Juneau, Montana's Superintendent of Public Instruction, joins us for a discussion of what the common core

standards are all about. Also joining us is Cindy Noland, an English language arts teacher at Arlee High School.
