Class Act: Eagle Scout

To attain the highest rank in the Boy Scouting program a Scout must plan organize and lead a service project. In this week's class act Beartooth NBC talks to one scout about his journey to become an Eagle.

Dylan Allen has played soccer as long as he can remember.

“I've been in the soccer community for a long time and I wanted to give back to it and I thought I could do it in this way,” says Eagle Scout candidate, Dylan Allen.

Dylan created a new sign for the Siebel Soccer Complex near the airport as his Eagle Scout project.

“You have to do an Eagle Scout project anytime you get to be an Eagle you have to do a project and that's why I did this,” says Allen.

Dylan raised about $1,500 from local businesses to complete the project.

“It took a lot of money to put this together. Plants and all the supplies added up,” says Allen

He started the planning process in spring and finished building the sign over summer.

“It took a couple months, a couple hundred hours. It took a lot of helping hands and a lot of the Boy Scout kids helped me out. A lot of cousin help, mom and dad,” says Allen.

The Helena Youth Soccer Association recognized Dylan for all the time and effort he spent on the sign.

“Your hard work and dedication will forever be appreciated by the families of Helena Youth Soccer Association,” says HYSA President, Brian Morris.

HYSA president Brian Morris says Dylan is leaving his legacy on the field where he grew up playing. Dylan says he hopes to add a field layout and awards to the sign.

Dylan made the class AA state soccer team this year for Helena High. He scored 14 goals this season as a forward for the Bengals.
