Cameron J. Stanton

     Army Pvt. Cameron J. Stanton graduated from the Multiple Launch Rocket System Operations/Fire Direction Specialist Advanced Individual Training (AIT) course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
     The course is designed to train the students on how to record and transmit firing data, operate fire direction systems and multiple launch rocket system communication equipment.
     They also learn to gather operations and intelligence data, and plot that data using charts, maps and records. They learn to drive specialized vehicles, maintain and use generators, and install and maintain a wide range of communications equipment.
     Stanton is the son of Cheryl and Greg Stanton of Meadow Lane, Cascade.
     He is a 2008 graduate of C.M. Russell High School, Great Falls.

 Donald M. Larsen
     Army Reserve Capt. Donald M. Larsen has returned to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., after being deployed to Iraq serving in support of Operation New Dawn.
     Members from all branches of the U.S. military and multinational forces were also assisting in rebuilding Iraq's economic and governmental infrastructure, and training and preparing Iraqi military and security forces to assume full authority and responsibility in defending and preserving Iraq's sovereignty and independence as a democracy.
Operation New Dawn officially came to an end Dec. 15, 2011.
     Larsen is the commander of the 362nd Mobile Public Affairs Detachment, Londonderry, N.H. He has served 18 years in the military.
     He is the son of Juanita M. Bray of Saddler Lane, Townsend, Mont., and John M. Larsen of Airpark Loop, Melba, Idaho.
     The captain is a 1980 graduate of Capital High School, Helena, Montana. He earned a master's degree in 1996 from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, New Orleans.

Chance M. McDowell
     Army National Guard Pvt. Chance M. McDowell has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.
     During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.
     McDowell is the son Gayle Woon of Cayuse Road, and Tim McDowell of Tennyson Road, both of Helena.
     He is a 2005 graduate of Helena High School.

Matthew S. Wright

Air Force Staff Sgt. Matthew S. Wright has been named Mission Support Group noncommissioned Officer of the Quarter.
Selection was based on the individual's exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities, teamwork, significant self-improvement, personal achievements, notable accomplishments, and community service and support.
Wright is a fire protection crew chief assigned to the 28th Bomb Wing at Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D. The staff sergeant has served in the military for six years.
He is the son of Larry and Judy Wright of Broadway Street, Townsend.

LeRoy Gaub

Army Reserve Col. LeRoy Gaub is one of an elite group of officers recently inducted into the Officer Candidate School (OCS) Hall of Fame at a ceremony held at Fort Benning, Columbus, Georgia.
Induction into the Hall of Fame is the single highest honor the OCS can bestow upon its past graduates. Eligibility calls for officers who have either attained the rank of colonel, Medal of Honor recipients, or those who have distinguished themselves in civilian occupations. The Hall of Fame recognizes leadership excellence in both military and civilian public service.

Gaub is a retired colonel with 31 years of service.
He is a 1967 graduate of Terry High School. He earned a master's degree in 2000 from the University of Phoenix. His spouse is Sheila Gaub of Bozeman.

Kim A. Dowd

Air Force 2nd Lt. Kim A. Dowd graduated from Top Knife training at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona.
Top Knife is a two-week course in "fighter aviation medicine" that encompasses several opportunities to fly aboard aircraft in simulated combat conditions.
Dowd is an aerospace physiologist assigned to the 633rd Air Base Wing at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va. The second lieutenant has served in the military for two years.
She is the daughter of Lanette and Martin Dowd of Outlaw Lane, Bozeman.
She graduated in 2004 from Bozeman Senior High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in 2008 from Montana State University, Bozeman.

Michelle L. Carpenter

Michelle L. Carpenter has been promoted to the rank of Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.
Carpenter is the deputy director of future operations and integration, assigned to the Air Reserve Personnel Center Headquarters in Denver, Colorado. The Colonel has served in the military for 20 years.
She is the daughter of Donald M. Hamerla of Keir Lane, Helena, Montana, the granddaughter of Casmire Hamerla of Center Street, Plainfield, Ill., and the sister of Ralph R. Hamerla of Brookside Drive, Norman, Oklahoma.
Her husband, James, is the son of Hazel and Richard Smith of Thrush Drive, Post Falls, Idaho.

     Soutullo graduated from the split option enlistment program that allows high school students to attend basic training between their junior and senior years. They will be assigned to their reserve or national guard units during their senior year and attend their advanced individual training upon graduation from high school.

     Soutullo is the ward of Nancy Collick of N. Fee Street, Helena. She is a student at Helena High School.

William D. Hightower Jr.

    Army Reserve Sgt. William D. Hightower Jr. is returning to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., after being deployed to Afghanistan serving in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

     Enduring Freedom is the official name given to anti-terrorism military operations involving U.S. troops and allied coalition partners.  Reserve component members from all branches of the U.S. armed forces have been mobilized, activated and deployed along with active duty members to support the war against global terrorism.  Mission objectives encompass combating the international terrorist network or regime forces outside the borders of the United States.  U.S. troops serve in South and Southwest Asia, Central Asia, the Arabian peninsula, the Horn of Africa, islands in the Pacific, and Europe.

     Hightower is a resident of 50th Street S., Great Falls.

     He is a combat engineer with the 309th Engineer Company, Brainerd, Minn.

     Flynn is the son of Joe P. and Rene M. Flynn of 182nd Court N.E., Redmond. He is a 2002 graduate of Redmond High School.

     He is an ammunition technician with the 592nd Ordnance Company, Butte, Mont.

     He is an ammunition specialist and squad leader with the 592nd Ordnance Company, Billings.

     She is an ammunition specialist with the 592nd Ordnance Company, Butte, Mont.

     Army Reserve Spec. Nicholas L. Bragg is returning to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., after being deployed to Afghanistan serving in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

     Enduring Freedom is the official name given to anti-terrorism military operations involving U.S. troops and allied coalition partners.  Reserve component members from all branches of the U.S. armed forces have been mobilized, activated and deployed along with active duty members to support the war against global terrorism.  Mission objectives encompass combating the international terrorist network or regime forces outside the borders of the United States.  U.S. troops serve in South and Southwest Asia, Central Asia, the Arabian peninsula, the Horn of Africa, islands in the Pacific, and Europe.

     Bragg is the son of Pamela J. and Larry R. Bragg of Juniper Acres, Silver Bow. He is a 1999 graduate of Butte High School.

     He is an ammunition specialist with th 592nd Ordnance Company, Butte.

Kristy R. Ciampanelli

Rebecca R. Norris

Jamison R. Powell

     Army National Guard Pvt. Jamison R. Powell has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

     During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.

     Powell is the son of Alison Powell of Barrett Road, Helena. He is a 2007 graduate of Capital High School, Helena.

Chandler J. Yount
   Army Reserve Pfc. Chandler J. Yount has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

     During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions.  Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

     Yount is the son of Jennifer Yount of Grizzly Trail, Butte, and grandson of Allen Walters of Clagett Street, Deer Lodge. He is a 2011 graduate of Powell County High School, Deer Lodge.

Jeffrey D. Blair
