Chief Meteorologist

Austin Winfield joined Beartooth NBC as a meteorologist in September 2013.

Austin has moved around the country making stops in Richmond, Virginia, as well as Seattle, Washington, but he calls Clearwater, Florida, home.  Austin’s passion for weather was lit as a small child by following his father around, as he is a meteorologist as well. You could say it runs in the family. Eventually, Austin attended Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, where he received a degree in Meteorology. While taking classes though, Austin worked at 4FSU as an on air meteorologist 5 days a week. During his summers though, he was an intern at both a tv station in Tampa, Florida, as well as the local National Weather Service office. After graduating cum laude in the spring of 2013, Austin stayed in Tallahassee, Florida, to work as a meteorologist at WTXL, before jumping at the opportunity to come to the Treasure State. He is excited to have the opportunity to forecast the constantly changing weather in Montana as well as become part of the community.

Feel free to contact Austin if you have any weather stories, pictures, or even questions.

Austin! Buddy! "Per se" doesn't mean what you think it means. You throw it out once or twice or (ugh) sometimes more often, as though it means "for example"... or "sort of"... or "and so on," but it doesn't. It means "as such" or "intrinsically." Example: "His dog isn't aggressive, per se; he just growls a lot."
